ARTIST BIO
Stephen McCulloch is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Melbourne, Australia. His music draws on folk, country, rock and pop sounds, with intricate acoustic guitar work and a voice that ranges from gentle and tender to soaring and powerful. His songs explore the joy and pain of being human with an honesty that is immediate, engaging, and often uplifting.
Stephen’s performances on Channel 9’s The Voice in 2015 helped propel his debut album ‘Good Things Take Time ‘ to number 15 on the Australian iTunes Singer/songwriter charts. Stephen has also performed at major Australian music festivals including Woodford, The National and Maldon Folk festivals.
His early exposure to music came through his father’s country record collection, with Charlie Pride, Neil Young, Slim Dusty and Merle Haggard all featuring frequently in the family home in Gippsland, rural Victoria. At age 15 he picked up the guitar and harmonica which both still feature in his music today.
